Panama City 2012

Our annual trip to Panama City, Florida came and went. It was beautiful weather this year and Maddie was old enough to really enjoy the beach. Otto and I went on a house hunting trip a couple days before so we dropped Maddie off to my parents and then we met back up with them in Florida. It was the first time we were away from Maddie but luckily we were so busy looking at houses and signing papers that we didn't have too much time to miss her. Let's take a look at the little cuteness that is Maddie in a swimsuit.

 

 Maddie knows nothing of fear so she walked right into the water. Note: I am not sweaty, just wet.

 I'm so glad I brought this backpack, I was able to carry Maddie down to the race start and walk all around. She was surprisingly good for me, until she wasn't and decided to climb out. Luckily I caught her but she had been in there for almost 2 hours so I can't blame her. Look how not pregnant I look! Ahhh, those were the days.

 Also, Maddie went trick-or-treating at the mall. Baby's first tootsie roll, such an important milestone. We have a picture of all three of us but of course Otto's eyes are closed.

 

Travis, Maria and Landon came to visit us for a few hours! We ate lunch and went hot tubbing. It was super windy that day.

 

Oh, and Otto and Phil did an Ironman but there are no pictures of that. Oops. If you've seen one you've seen 'em all. 

 

Summer 2012

I am sitting at a hotel in Huntsville, sneaking around the room while Maddie naps. I thought now would be a good time to update since once we are in our house I'm pretty sure it will be at least another three to four months before I even think about updating. Maybe I am using the word "update" incorrectly because really I am going to go way far back and post about things that happened many months ago. So let's catch-up...

Maddie had a birthday! In July. She turned one. Look at this delicious from scratch carrot cake I made her. No, she didn't eat any that day because she got frosting on her hand and she was unable to continue after that. She is so much like Otto is scares me. Anyway, she ate some the next day sans frosting and all was well. Success!

Now let's talk about something really important. My birthday. My parents came out to celebrate the occasion and we went down to Pikes Peak and rode the train up to the top. Over 14,000 feet in elevation, yikes! It was really fun and beautiful and the only downside was Maddie had to sit still for about 45 minutes one way which is almost impossible for her. That's her and Otto before departure. So squirm squirm squirm blah blah blah...

We made it to the top! You only get like a half an hour up there before the train heads down so what would you do if you had limited time to spend somewhere? Yep, wait in line for special high altitude donuts and french fries. Maddie happily partook of both.

Look at our cute little family! Maddie still eating... then we headed back down. It was freezing at the top, by the way, so it was kind of nice to head back down. So squirm squirm squirm blah blah blah...

We made it back to the bottom. This picture of  Maddie's face is one of my favorites of all time. What an adorable, round-headed goof! I love it.

Nobody likes a bully

I'll just say it: Maddie is mean to other babies. I think it might be because Otto plays really rough with her and she thinks she can play that way with other babies. Cousin Hazel came to town and we went up to Golden to see them for the day. This is Maddie pulling Hazel's hat off and then hitting her on the head. Glad we got it on film.

Hazel looks just like Conor... but also like Dayna. So cute!

A swing and a bike

There is a playground really close to our apartment that Maddie and I go to almost everyday. These were taken a while ago but they are so cute I had to post them.

 My parents got us this bike seat for our Townie Cruiser and this was it's maiden voyage.

It's fun to ride with her because everyone loves seeing her in the front and they giggle because she looks so cute in that helmet. Just like you are now.

Fourth of July in Tulsa

We went to visit my parents for the Fourth of July. We had a great time and Maddie stayed up way too late and skipped way too many naps all in the name of fun!

 We went to the aquarium to watch fireworks. That eel was the most disgusting thing I have ever seen.

 Waiting for fireworks. Maddie did great and sat and watched the fireworks like a champ! Wait, no she didn't. She was all over the place. At least she wasn't scared.

 My parent's family friends let us use their pool which was nice because Tulsa is hot and humid in July. Yuck.

 That weekend we rented a pontoon for half a day. Luckily it was overcast and not too hot but unluckily, are pontoon broke down and we had to hold it from crashing up against the rocks for an hour while we waited for assistance. After it was fixed we went on our way and had a great time.

 If you ask Maddie, I think she would say her least favorite part was the lifejacket. But her favorite part was screaming as the wind went blowing through her hair. She went nuts!

 I LOVED THIS. She was so upset in that lifejacket, it made me laugh so hard.

She traded it in for the monkey float and all was well. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for the great time!

Family Pictures

Dayna was nice enough to take pictures while we were visiting in Utah. It was last minute and we were racing the daylight and against Maddie's bedtime, but they turned out so cute! Here are many of my favorites.

 This is Maddie pointing, she does this all the time. This gesture that started as something cute and simple has become quite ambiguous. Some meanings of "the point" include (but are not limited to): "Look." "What's that?" "I want that." "I will eat that." "I see that." "I will go there." "I want to go there." "Take me there." "I see you." "Who is that?" "Give me that." "I'm going to touch that." And on and on...
