Umbrella ella ella

I was trying to sort out my e-mail and I found these pictures from my friend in Japan. Sometimes I think she was my companion but then I remember she wasn't. Our areas were right next to each other our last 2 transfers so we spent preparation days together and we did exchanges probably far more than we should have done. She is my Japanese soul mate. We both ended our mission at the same time so we got to spend our last days together! I remember that one of the last things I told her was that I wanted to pack her up and take her home with me in my luggage, and she replied that she wanted to chop off one of my hands and take it home with her. It was quite the tender moment.

Anyway, I don't know why but we had an umbrella obsession. It all started with an umbrella that one of her companions received that not only opened with the push of a button, but also closed with that same button! It was fascinating. So of course on one of our days together we made tons of videos showing how convenient and handy that umbrella could be in various situations. Here is one of them.

Hmm... guess you had to be there. How about these next pictures? We got stood up at an appointment at the church and we found these umbrellas while we were waiting. The brown one was HUGE. I seriously think it could fit 4 Americans, or 5 Japanese people underneath. The clear umbrella is shown for scale. Please keep in mind that we had stayed up late the night before so I had my Asian eyes that I get when I am tired. Also, I am not wearing make-up. Also, I have rice cheeks. That's what happens when you eat a lot of rice.
