The Luckiest Girl Alive

I think about my time in Japan a lot. I don't know why, probably because Japan is awesome. So now I will write about it. There was this area called Kanagawa-Kohoku that I served in twice. As in, I was transferred out of the area and then they transferred me back three transfers later. It was kind of bittersweet because I loved the ward and the area but I had a lot of challenges there. The sister missionaries were assigned two wards which I loved, but we were also expected to go to the three full hours of church on Sunday for both wards. If there's anything better than going to church once, it's going to church twice. Back to back. With meetings before, after, and in between. In a different language. But when you see this activity that the Relief Society of the Kohoku ward did, you will realize why it was all worth it. Let's see if you can guess what is happening.

Hint #1: Long table. Japanese People. Bowls of water. Sushi mats.

Hint #2: Lots more Japanese people. A large, green log filled with rice.

Hint #3: It looks like a giant sushi roll.

BECAUSE IT IS A GIANT SUSHI ROLL!

Look at my delicate touch. Almost as if I didn't help at all. Almost.

Actually, I was one of the main cutters. So you're welcome.

A giant sushi roll usually yields giant sushi. These babies were about 2/12 to 3 inches in diameter.

I guess I decided not to wear make-up that day. But if you're going to be a sister missionary, why not fully commit to it? Needless to say, these things were delicious. They had put different fillings in every couple feet so there were lots to try. Yum.
Well, that is all for today. Don't worry, there is plenty more where this came from. So as they say in Japan, "Bye Bye!"
